CLAUDIO ARTONI

Claudio has a background in Geology and Earth Sciences and he gained a PhD in Polar Sciences in 2024. He’s now the technical manager and snow scientist of the EuroCold Lab at the University of Milano – Bicocca.
From 2025 he’s a certified professional Polar Guide with experience in numerous expeditions both in the Arctic and Antarctica. Claudio loves being in the polar regions and carries on his passion as an Antarctic Ambassador.
A lover of nature, mountains, and snow, Claudio is also a national snow and avalanche instructor for the Italian Avalanche Service and a climbing instructor for the Sport Climbing Federation.
He serves as vice-president of the Avalanche Commission of the International Commissions for Alpine Rescue (ICAR) and he manage a working group on rescue and climate change.
Photographer and storyteller, he loves to convey the passion for his work during events and conferences.

- 2022 Lead scientist (glaciology) in the 38^ Expedition in Antarctica
- 2020 Reviewer of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) “Climate Change 2021: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability”, cross chapter “Polar Regions” at the Working Group WGII.
