OPTICE will develop two main activities: the field activities and the laboratory analyses.
Field activities are typically organized in spring or early summer, in locations that are identified as key sites to investigate the dust properties of Alpine snow and ice. Such sites are glaciers and located far enough from the anthropic influence and characterized by specific conditions. They should preferably be large plateaus, which guarantee a regular deposition, at a relevant altitude, to minimize the melting of snow.
